what i am looking for is a way to automaticly move people from a group to another group by coding.

What i am doing is teaching a course over the internet . what i would like is when they finish one chapters review quiz they click on a button to go to the next chapter.

Example

Chapter one has a group level of 1. once chapter one is completed they will click on a button or icon and this would change there group level to 2 so they could start chapter two. mean while people with group level 1 would not be able to acces chapter two because of the group leveling.

very doable but as you said you have to write a bunch of code to do it..

basic database work really... you're just doing an update query to update the value of one field based on a users ID..

of course you have to work out all the details, but your idea is fine
