Hi,

I have been using ASPProtect for about 6 months and I am now beginning to experiment with Groups. Just for fun, I added a "test group", did some testing, and then deleted the group so that no groups were listed.

When I went back to add my first "real group", the ID was set to #2. I deleted this group (i.e. back to no groups listed) - logged out of Admin and back in - and tried entering my first "real group" and the ID incremented to #3.

My question: Is there any way to reset the Group count back to zero if all groups are deleted? I realize it's just numbers - but - for ease of use and referencing -  I would like to start over with my first group entry using ID #1.

Thanks!

I assume your using msacces.

It's because of the way autonumber fields work in MSACCESS. You see the database is making up those numbers and with MSACCESS the auto-numbers dont get re-used.

You can try opening up the database in MSACCESS, make sure the groups are empty, and do a compact and repair.. that may reset the autonumber count

if that doesn't reset the count when you add a new group then removing the groups table completely and then re-adding it with the same exact settings will definetely get the count reset.

Now, if you were using a SQL Server Database I don't think you would have to go through all that but it's just because SQL works differently.
