I have two instances on my new server. One is SQL Server MSDE and one is SQL Server Standard Edition.  I want to run aspphotogallery on the Standard Edition however cannot configure dataconn_inc.asp to recognize the Standard Edition.  The TCP/IP port for the Standard Edition is 2592 however using something like 127.0.0.1:2592 in the dataconn_inc.asp does not work.

Please provide help.

Okay, adding a comma worked ie. 127.0.0.1,2592

Next question, how do I "move" the data from one server to another?  I tried using the backup generated from Enterprise Manager then doing a restore on the new server. The restore said it was successful however when I try launching the website I get a message about aspphotogalleryuser login error.

Need more help please.

Hi Lance,

Welll, I really don't support advanced SQL server issues like moving data, but I will tell you this.

A backup/restore can work out fine but ya got to really know what your doing and be careful. Biggest thing is making sure you verify the data gets put where you want and is there, and that the username your using in your connection strings has all the proper permissions to access it. You should manually check all of that as well as briefyl looking over the indivisual field settings in design view to make sure they match the database they came from.

Other way to do it is to use the DTS (Data Transformation Service) that is built into SQL enterprise manager. It lets you send data directly from one place to another, but again requires being very careful and somewhat knowlegable.

It's really not too difficult either wat, but just not issues I support as it it general SQL Database usage type of stuff.

Got it done.  Used DTS to create an .mdb which I was able to FTP to the new server and use DTS to import.  Only other necessary step was to blow away and recreate aspphotogalleryuser.  All is working now. Big smile
