Hi,

I am just wandering if there is a way of me mapping your aspprotect database (and let say username stored in it) to another database (called myusers.mdb that is storred in the same folder as your database - data/database)  in which I will keep other user tables and one of the fields in users table will be called username). Reason being I would like to pull some info from second db that relates to that particular user.

Also I was following the manual on how to use session variables and i copied from one of your page (user_area.asp) but for what ever reason i am not getting the variable to show) i am using the same thing you used:

<% =Session("First_Name") %>

Any help would be greatlly appreciated.

Thank you.

the mapping thing with and ACCESS database... nope

If your are using SQL Server and can write sql triggers all that is possible but you also need to be VERY good with things like that.

As for the session info not showing I need more info.

LIke exactly where aspprotect is installed and where and how you grabbing that ifo... show code, show directory locations,  show everything

You have to do it all from the same application in IIS.. that is the only reason it wouldnt show up that I can think of

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I managed to resolve the problem with the session variables, it was some extra stuff in the page that was bugging it.

Although you say we can not go across databases, is it possible somehow to dump a session variable into a text box on the same page. That would help me immensly. I would be able to query database from there. I have modified and set one of custom variables to be the same as the members id in the other table.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

PS: When is version 8 comming out (it has been mantioned in few posts, i am just curious)

Thank you.

No plans for version 8 at the time being. Version 7 was so good there really wasn't much more I could do. But, you never know. I am not a good person to ask about when something will happen. I don't plan that far ahead.

You have the session variable variable, what you do with the information is up to you. The sky is the limit whether you use the info to perform a query or submit a form... etc etc  At that point it is basic asp/database stuff.

I do not support custimization issues like that.
