I have a page that only Group 1 users can get in and another page Group 1 and Group 2 users can get into.

When a non-logged-in Group 2 user tries to access Group 1's page, he is presented with a log-in and upon trying to log in, gets the appropriate "you don't belong" message.

However, if that same non-logged-in Group 2 user goes to the Group 1 & 2 page that he DOES have access to and logs in there, then when he returns to that Group 1 page, he is allowed in without being prompted or challenged in any way.

Any idea as to what I may have set up incorrectly?

Here are some ideas..

Browser caching can play tricks on you ? Since you are logging in as multiple accounts and trying things that can happen. Ensure that the group 2 user going back to the group 1 page is truly seeing the page content by doing a browser refresh when that happens. The see if they are actually seing a login window or not.

Another scenario is logging in as different people but not specifically logging off each time. Ensure that you are specifically logging off and closing all browser windows before trying something with a different user account. It's REAL EASY to get confused when testing things cause you are logging in as mutliple people on the same web browser/computer. Things can get criss crossed if your not super careful. You need to be very sure to log off specifically, close all browser windows, and sometimes it necessary to even clear the temporary internet files when testing as multiple users.

Though you may be correct so far in 6-7 years of selling this app every time someone has told me something like this it has been untrue. The logic in the .NET addon is exactly the same as far as group access goes.. etc etc

Test some more doing what I said, then get back to me.

Here's what I've done:

1) Closed all browsers

2) Open new browser

3) Go to Group 1 protected page by directly typing URL in Address field of browser

4) I am prompted for a log in so now I know I'm not logged in as anyone with access to the Group 1 page

5) I try to log in as njaskot, a Group 2 user

6) I am told I don't have access. Good.

7) I go to Group 1 & 2 protected page by directly typing URL in Address field of browser

8) I am prompted for log in so I still know that I am not logged in as anyone with access, Group 1 or 2

9) I log in as a njaskot, a Group 2 user

10) I am shown the contents of the page. Good.

11) I go directly to the Group 1 protected page I just tried to access in Step 3 by directly typing the URL in Address field of browser

12) This time I am shown the contents of that page.

to sum this up for anyone reading it...

I tried what this person said and everything worked as it should. Were chalking it up to some of the ideas I mentioned above as it is only happening on this persons computer who is using it to test mutliple accounts.
