Dear CJWsoft Support Admin:

I have just baught and downloaded the ASPProtect v8 program and when I unzip it, I got 343 separate files instead of the 15 folders as mentioned in the instruction manual.  How do I get start with the program and which file do I need for set up. Do I have to put all 343 files in the root directory?

I just want to put a simple authenthication on a few pages of my website.

Thank you,

your not unzipping it right.. whatever your using to do the unzipping is set to not use the folders..

for starters you have to figure that out..

I recommend using a fresh copy of winzip or winrar with default settings... also the built in unzipping features of xp and vista work fine too provided you have not messed around with any default settings..

again.. if that is happening it is the settings of your unzipping program and you have to figure that out

Dear CJWSoft Admin:

I have unzipped everything correctly.

My website is build with HTML extension. How do I insert your ASPProtect code into some HTML page which user needs to login to get in. Do I need to create or convert those pages with ASPX extension or I can leave them as a HTML files?

Thank You,

You cannot protect .htm pages using Active Server Pages.. you must rename those pages from ".htm" or ".html" to .asp.

Please read this.. where I just explained the .htm thing to someone recently
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/code_info.asp?TID=1022&g et=last#3782

As for ".aspx" that is ASP.NET code.. You can't rename a ".aspx" to ".asp" because they are different coding languages.

To protect a ".aspx" page you would have to use the Free ASP.NET Authentication Add On..
http://www.aspprotect.com/more_info_net.asp

Keep in mind that Add-ON is totally FREE and totally unsupported. I don't assist with it or talk about it any more than what I just said.

And before you worry about any of that you have to install the application in your web server and verify that the example protected ".asp" pages are running correctly.

That all requires that you have experience working with Active Server Pages or you learn what you need to..
