Hello,

I'm having an issue installing your software on to our system.  When I initially set it up, I tried to put it into our \wwwroot\FishUSA.com folder and it didn't work.  Then I tried putting it into the wwwroot\FishUSA.com\FishErie.  FishErie is an affiliate site whose web address is www.fisherie.com which points to www.fishusa.com/fisherie.  Everything worked fine.  However, for organization reasons, I'd like to put the Aspbanenr and data folders in a folder called \wwwroot\FishUSA.com\ASPBannerSoftware.  I take the ZIP file, extract to this directory.  I then try to load the \data\config\aspbanner_unlimited.asp page which i get a 404 error.  I've checke the path over and over again.  I put a dummy HTML file in that directory and I can "see" it from the web.  It almost seems like that folder doesn't want to display the ASP pages.  I have a feeling it might have something to do with IIS not letting the file out to the web.  Any help or even links to IIS information would be great as I'm not well versed in IIS.  Thanks

J.R. Murray

you can read this over but I am not sure it's your problem..
http://support.cjwsoft.com/code/moreinfo11-1.htm

I tried to run some very simple asp pages from your web like the server_info.asp from the extras folder and same thing  404 error..

Now I wasn't entirely sure of the path... so try that page because if a simple page like that won't run you got low level trouble running asp pages in that particular web/directory that a system administrator will have to sort out.

If it does run we will go from there as we really should be able to get everything working.

If it were me and I ran the server I would make a whole new site just for the banner software.Set up http://banserver.fishusa.com or something.. and serve all the banners from there. Then you could give it's it's own application pool in iis and get the best performace and also keep it isolated from other pools. Advanced stuff so if you're not in that then don't worry about the suggestion. That how I do it for own stuff. I have one banserver site thats serves my banners to over 20 different web sites. Works great.

I do have the friendly error messages off, as I had read that in your other forum posts.

Also, I'm not sure how you could see anything from the web (working or not) as I have this set up only on our development box (which I know would make things difficult for you to look at).

Finally, my boss thought it might have to do with windows security permissions (also mentioned by you before).  I set the new directory that I want with the same permissions as the directory that works (for all account) and it still doesn't work.  The error message I get is as follows:

HTTP 404 - File not found
Internet Information Services

Just so I cover all my bases, there's no limit built into your software because I do have it installed once on the working folder, but I don't have it "uninstalled" yet.  Does this create problems when you have more than one running at the same time?  If so, how do I go about deleting the first  one?

Thanks again!

J.R.

I'm back.. you got to figure out that 404 deal.

I mean a 404 means page not found. That is real low level and not good.
I am thinking maybe the path you think is right isn't ?

Then again it could be iis and permissions and what not for that folder.

I don't know at this point..

We resolved the problem ourselves.  I'm posting the details here in case anyone else has a problem.

The issue was not with the ASPBanner software.  We use a program called URLReWrite to get rid of the long nasty URL's and replace them with friendlier ones.  This program has a admin INI file that has to be configured on how to process URL's.  Once we added the directory (or any directory) in question, it solved the problem and allowed us to access ASP pages.  Hope this helps somebody else out.

Thanks again Chris for all your help.

I am glad.. I have been thinking about this one all weekend and really didn't really know how we were going to figure it out.

I am familiar with those rewrite filters as I use one as well one a few of my sites.
